How To Wait On God The Right Way

Waiting in God's presence does not necessarily mean staying in a particular place and or position while waiting for Him to answer.

Although sometimes, God may tell us to wait for some time in that particular place after praying, at other times, we will have to keep on praying as we carry out our daily activities, while waiting.

In God's Waiting room, we do not just live anyhow we want or do anything we like. Remember we are staying in God's presence until He answers, so we must not be involved in things that would take His presence away from us and prevent answers to our prayers.

1. Check Your Life:

If you're experiencing delay, check your life to make sure there is nothing preventing God from answering you. Most times it's sin that holds us back from receiving from God and the longer it remains the longer we wait. Until we check ourselves thoroughly and repent from such God will not answer us. They could be things we don't even know about but that is why we must ask God to reveal whatever it is in our lives that is causing the delay.

Isaiah 59:1-2 Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.(KJV)

2. Stay away from sin:

The presence of God does not tolerate sin of any kind. While waiting for God, do not allow any thing to cause you to sin against God. For example you might be tempted to question God and say sinful words in the process like "Why does God hate me?" Or "God has abandoned me"; those are lies from the devil to cause you to sin.

1 Thessalonians 5:22 Stay away from every kind of evil.(NLT)

3. Fast and pray:

Sometimes the devil is the one who causes delay. God may have answered, but the devil prevents the answer from getting to you, just as we see in Daniel 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.(KJV). Fasting gives more force and energy to your prayer, breaking through every barrier to your answers.

Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.(KJV)

4. Continue in Prayer:

God honours those who do not give up in praying to him. The more you ask for his help, the more you prove that you fully trust in Him and the more He is pleased and moved to answer you.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Never stop praying. (NLT)

5. Get Closer to God:

God sometimes delays His answer to a particular request because there is something more important that He wants to address in your life. The period of waiting is the best time to Get closer to God and ask for the reason for His delay. He may point out something else that needs His immediate attention; because He is the all-seeing and all-knowing God.

James 4:8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. (NLT)

6. Always thank God:

Did I hear you say what are you thanking God for? Well, it is entirely normal for you to think that way as a human. But when you choose to look at things from God's perspective, you will see a lot of things to thank Him for, most importantly your life. Thank Him for His past goodness in your life, thank Him because His plans for you are better than that situation you are in. Above all, thank Him because God delights in praises. He is moved to do more for us when we worship Him. Just like you are pleased when someone genuinely thanks you for something you've done for them, even if it's little. Also, thanking Him in advance for His answers to your request will greatly please Him and move Him to do even more than what you are expecting.

Psalms 107:8 Let them praise the Lord for his great love
and for the wonderful things he has done for them.(NLT)

In Conclusion, Remember that God knows about every detail of what is happening to His Children, and will always deliver them out of every trouble. Therefore be rest assured that He will definitely answer you, at His own time because GOD'S TIME IS ALWAYS THE BEST. He is never too late nor too early, His timing is always perfect.

Remember, DELAY IS NOT DENIAL!

MAY GOD GRANT US GRACE TO WAIT FOR HIS PERFECT TIMING. AMEN.
