Living Or Leaving?

Some people are actually leaving the earth and they do not know it.

Now what do I mean? 🤔

In the beginning, God’s original plan for us was to live in good health, be prosperous and have a good life generally, but this was cut short by the sin of our very first parents – Adam and Eve. Since then, we were cut off from the good and lovely life we were supposed to enjoy, and have had to work extremely hard just to get a plate of food our tables, or anything that pertains to good living.

Genesis  3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Now, while we’re doing all these, trying to make sure we live well, we are not doing this without displaying the effects they have on our physical, mental and emotional well-being.

This is because, due to God’s pronouncement, we have had to start doing things on our own, growing food by ourselves, building shelters by ourselves, making clothes by ourselves, and so on. This means the better life we want, the harder we should work, and the more our general health naturally deteriorates.

Though, whether we like it or not, our bodies will all deteriorate to the point of death, but we can determine to an extent  how long we would live by the way we care for our health.

When God gave that verdict, He didn’t just leave us like that. He gave us strength to do all we should do to live well, natural herbs and fruits for healing and health, good ground to give us food, and above all, even promised that we would be in good health and live long if we love, serve and obey His commandments.

Deuteronomy 4:40   Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.

We should be watchful that we’re not gradually killing ourselves, leaving the earth before our time because of lack of proper care for our health.

The one basic principle that will help us is REST.

Read: Are you just a matter or do you matter?

Yes, rest is the only way to help us pull through today and stay put for the next day. Not just even resting, ADEQUATE REST is what is needed.

According to the dictionary, rest is:

1. Relief from work or activity by sleeping.

2. Any relief from exertion, a state of quiet and relaxation.

3. Peace; freedom from worry, anxiety, annoyances; tranquility.

While we are working, trying to make ends meet, we should remember to pause at intervals to have some rest.

We’ve heard of people who, while working, slumped and died without warning (well, I wouldn’t say ‘without warning’, because they must have been having some subtle, petty signs in their bodies, that they felt were insignificant).

Aside from that, some people have very high tastes in life, i.e they love extravagant things that are beyond their abilities. This causes them to work beyond their limits, leading to too much stress on their bodies, and just like an overstretched elastic will get to it’s breaking point and not return to it’s elastic state, so their bodies will get to it’s breaking point and will not or take a really long time to get back into good health. At that point, their bodies cannot tolerate any form of vigorous activity again, so they’d have to struggle to get things done. The remedy out of this is to LIVE SIMPLY. That’s another life principle. Avoid comparing yourself to another, because that’s the major source of of dissatisfaction and discontentment.

Also, EATING RIGHT is the right thing to do. Food is the ‘fuel’ for our bodies. The kind of food we eat will determine the kind of ‘fuel’ our body gets – good or bad.

Remember these three life principles this year:

• Rest

• Live Simply

• Eat Right
